Exclusive First Look: Grimm’s Monsters Unmasked!

Perpetrators of violent crimes have often been called monsters, but on NBC’s new crime procedural Grimm, which premieres Friday, Oct. 28 at 9/8c, the criminals are monsters — both literally and literarily.

It turns out that Grimm’s Fairy Tales isn’t a work of fiction, but an account of supernatural creatures that the Grimm family has destroyed throughout history to keep humanity safe. Portland cop Nick Burckhardt (David Giuntoli) has just discovered he’s the last of that line of hunters, who have a gift of spotting the true, monstrous nature underneath the creature’s magically mundane facade.

Matt’s Guide to Thursday TV: A Classic Community and All that Jazz

There’s no comedy series quite like Community, and as is often the case with such an uncompromised original, being this defiantly different comes with a price. And sadly, that price tends to be the sort of cellar-dwelling ratings that would get most shows canceled, if on any other network. Thankfully, NBC can ill afford these days to turn away any show that gets this kind of cult and media buzz, although everyone wishes it were doing better or were programmed in a time period (the old 30 Rock slot currently being wasted on Whitney, maybe?) that might increase its exposure.

With guest judge LaToya Jackson looking on, the models on the lackluster All-Stars season dressed up as Jacko in various stages of his career, and the result was, well, bad. Making matters worse, several of the Caucasian PYT’s (who, in some cases, are not-so-Y) wore makeup that veered dangerously close to blackface.

T.R. Knight Returns to TV on SVU: I Embrace My Fears

TR Knight | Photo Credits: Wolf Films

T.R. Knight isn’t afraid of anything. Just ask him.

“I think it’s dangerous as an actor to get too comfortable, but maybe sometimes I go towards the discomfort a little too much,” Knight tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. “There are a lot of things I maybe should have walked away from, but instead they kind of draw me in a little bit more because there’s that terror to it.”

Since leaving Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, he’s starred in his first musical (Parade) and performed David Mamet’s A Life in the Theatre on Broadway. For his return to TV on Wednesday’s Law & Order: SVU (10/9c on NBC), Knight is again embracing the unexpected to play a suspected rapist — a (seemingly) far cry from Grey’s sweet, soft-spoken Dr. George O’Malley.
